This is the perfect topic for every salesperson right now, the ones that will accelerate and close more deals are those that integrate AI into their sales process to improve their ROI per hour.
In this article I will show you the exact 5 prompts you need to become a rainmaker and why.
Prompt 1 THE MOMENTUM PROMPT – “Where is the money?”
Run Monday morning.
Act as my world-class sales coach. Here is my current pipeline, target, active clients and opportunities [PASTE]. Analyse it and tell me the 5 actions I can take this week most likely to generate revenue. Identify deals I should accelerate, clients I should expand, dormant opportunities I should reactivate, introductions I should request and new prospects I should approach. Rank everything by potential revenue × probability × speed. Challenge me if I’m spending time on activity that looks productive but doesn’t move the needle. Finish with my five non-negotiable sales actions for this week.
Why does this prompt work?
It’s because salespeople can spend a great deal of time on activities and prospects that aren’t going to move the needle. This prompt ensures you actually focus on what actually matters each week.
By leveraging your AI in this way, it shapes how you think and trains you to improve your qualification process and keeps you honest on the time vs output correlation.
Prompt 2 THE OPPORTUNITY MAGNET – “What am I not seeing?”
Run Tuesday.
Study these clients, prospects and recent wins [PASTE]. Think like an elite business-development strategist. Find opportunities I’m not seeing. Look for patterns across industries, similar companies, adjacent decision-makers, other departments, regional/global opportunities, repeat business, partnerships, referrals and reasons to contact senior stakeholders now. Give me the 10 highest-upside opportunities, explain why each exists and give me the exact next action for each. Prioritize asymmetric opportunities where one action could unlock multiple deals.
Why does this prompt work?
It turns you from an average salesperson to a deal strategist. Leveraging AI to uncover your blind spots and remove your biases is the perfect example of how you get the most out of it. We can be biases, favouring certain sectors, client stakeholder level, and verticals, not realizing that it is our own proclivity towards a particular subset that is keeping us stuck.
AI in this instance helps you to be a hunter that sees opportunities other people miss.
Prompt 3 – THE BIG DOG PROMPT – “Who should I be talking to?”
Run Wednesday.
My goal is [GOAL]. My company sells [SOLUTION] and our strongest proof points are [PROOF]. Identify the 20 people who could have the greatest impact on achieving my goal — clients, senior decision-makers, partners, introducers and industry influencers. Prioritise people with authority, budget, influence or access. For each, tell me why they matter, what I could genuinely help them with, the best reason to contact them now and write a short personalised outreach message that creates curiosity rather than sounding like a generic sales email.
When coaching salespeople, I explicitly tell sellers not to play small but to contact the Head of, VP, CEO, and get onto their radar, understand where they speak, which industry circles they occupy, and deliberately create the connection.
Now you might be thinking, I can’t do that, I can’t contact the CEO, but I am here to tell you that you can. Experts have more ways to win than beginners and this is one of them. Stop playing small and get out of your comfort zone.
Prompt 4 THE CLIENT MIND-READER – “What should I ask?”
Run before your five most important meetings.
I’m meeting [PERSON/COMPANY] about [CONTEXT]. Do not help me pitch yet. Help me understand. Based on what I know below [PASTE], identify what I still don’t understand about their situation, objectives, pressures, problems, decision criteria, stakeholders and desired future state. Give me the 10 most powerful questions I could ask. Sequence them from broad discovery → aspiration → problem → impact → decision criteria → future state → alignment. Then tell me what signals I should listen for and what not to say too early.
This prompt helps to prime your curiosity and to become a better listener. Ask curious questions. Future state questions like “Imagine it’s 3 years from now, we’re celebrating a successful partnership, what would have to happen to make that so?” are truly powerful at getting clients to ideate and open up.
Prompt 5 THE 1% BETTER PROMPT — “Coach my week.”
Run Friday afternoon.
You are my uncompromising sales coach. Here is what happened this week: meetings, wins, losses, unanswered outreach, proposals, pipeline changes and things I avoided [PASTE]. Evaluate my week. What did I do well? Where did I waste time? Where did I hesitate? What opportunities did I miss? Which conversations require immediate follow-up? Where could I have asked better questions or created more value? What should I stop, start and continue? Score my week /10 for Mindset, Opportunities, Motivation, Energy, Pitching, Time Management, Understanding and Going the Extra Mile. Then give me the three behavioural changes that would make me 1% better next week.
This prompt creates a feedback loop of continual improvement. It helps you to spot changes that you can make and generate micro-improvements that compound into becoming an exceptional salesperson.
Put them all together and you’ve essentially got an AI sales operating system.
