“Real estate is built on relationships, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be powered by smarter tools.”
People are looking for stories, context & trust when they enter real estate as buyers and sellers. They find it less transactional and more emotional which is why it means more to them than just square footage and stats. This is something I learned being in the real estate market for 16 years. It’s not easy to sense when a buyer is hesitating or read between the lines but if you can start trusting your gut feeling, then it becomes easy to even recognise a trend that’s only starting to take shape. These are matters where I always rely on my own gut instincts through most of my career.
Artificial intelligence is now entering the market helping us enhance those instincts. Brokers are able to confirm hunches with data in real time using predictive analytics, dynamic pricing tools & market reports driven by AI. It is so much easier to understand sales records now as intelligent dashboards surface patterns that could’ve been missed and actually save so much time. I am able to listen to clients, guide them through emotional decisions & ask better questions all because I have so much more time now.
The reason why a neighbourhood is great or expensive can only be found out after years of walking those blocks and talking with residents in that area. So even though AI may tell me the whats, the whys still need to be figured out manually, and that’s where human wisdom comes into play. For the best results, AI and experience need to go hand in hand, each enhancing the other. I’ve found that AI works best as a tool of context, not conclusion.
It’s also extremely important that we use this technology responsibly. We as brokers need to do more than just interpret market data, we have to help people make really personal and sometimes even life changing decisions. AI tools that recommend homes or assess value need to be trained on diverse, inclusive data sets and audited to avoid reinforcing bias. Our job is not to blindly trust what the algorithm says, but to question it, refine it & always bring the human lens to the table.
The point is that the future of real estate can not stand on a war between man and machine. It is our intuition which gives us the ability to listen, empathize & guide combined with AI making us sharper & faster and also know more that can change a good transaction into a great one.
