Christopher Johnson, ranked Band 1 by Chambers in New York for Securities: Plaintiffs and RMBS, joins the firm’s growing structured financial products litigation practice, arriving from McKool Smith

Johnson, one of the country’s most highly ranked securities and MBS litigators, has joined the firm as a partner in its New York office. He is the fourth attorney to join Glenn Agre’s structured financial products litigation practice this year, as the firm continues to expand its capabilities in one of the most consequential areas of financial litigation.
Johnson arrives from McKool Smith, where he was a principal in the New York litigation practice and managing principal of the New York office from 2021 to 2025. His arrival follows Glenn Agre’s June 2026 expansion, in which Partner Zachary W. Mazin joined the firm together with Special Counsel Ayana M. Rivers and Monika O. Bileris from McKool Smith, adding a dedicated team with experience litigating disputes across residential and commercial mortgage-backed securitization trusts. The four join a deep bench of Glenn Agre litigators already handling structured finance, securities and financial fraud matters, and their practice sits directly alongside the firm’s nationally ranked bankruptcy and restructuring, complex commercial litigation and accounting malpractice capabilities.

Johnson is a trial and appellate lawyer with more than three decades of experience in complex civil litigation. He has represented government agencies, major financial institutions, hedge funds, and litigation trustees in RMBS, CMBS, private credit, and other structured finance disputes. He successfully prosecuted securities claims on behalf of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, as conservator for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, recovering billions from major financial institutions for misrepresentations concerning RMBS. Johnson has won summary judgment, recovering over $50 million for Fannie Mae in the Stuyvesant Town Trust Instruction Proceeding – probably the most significant case in the CMBS field – and successfully resolved a hedge fund’s claims regarding credit-linked notes. He is ranked Band 1 in New York for Securities: Plaintiffs and RMBS by Chambers USA and is recognized by Benchmark Litigation as a “Litigation Star.”

Mazin focuses on complex civil cases arising from business disputes, structured financial products and governmental investigations. He has been ranked Band 1 by Chambers for Securities: Institutional Plaintiffs: Mainly RMBS Litigation and has been named on Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Litigators in America” list.
